Department or Program: Music Business

 

Goals

 

1.   Develop a background in both music and business in preparation for a career in

      some aspect of the music industry

2.       Develop a minimum level of musicianship and the basic requirements in a business   

      management degree

 

G. C. P. Correlation

 

1.   Knowledge of music is an enrichment for the individual in the arts

2.       Business courses deal with an understanding of how our society works

 

Means of Assessment

 

1.       Some students stay in touch with the program director after graduation and report 

      their job successes

2.       Internships and practica are encouraged and seem to relate to better academic 

      performance

 

Outcomes

 

Anecdotal confirmation of successful students (e.g. one is a vice president for SONY   

Records, two graduates work for firms that manage artists, etc.)

 

 

Use

 

1.   A well qualified individual has been hired to continue the program for the Fall 1999

      semester

2.       Attempts have been made to revise the requirements in the next college catalog to be

       more up to date with the job market
