           Goals

 

1.       Enhance skills: reading, writing, computer literacy, data collection & analysis, critical thinking,

familiarity with the scientific method.

2.       Advance knowledge: understanding of society & culture as critical determinants of human

nature, understanding of human social behavior, understanding of major societal institutions, familiarity with major historical and contemporary theories of society and culture, familiarity with U.S. and international sociocultural diversity.

 

           G.C.P. Correlation

 

1.       Departmental goals are nearly coterminous with those of the G.C.P.

 

Means of Assessment

Outcomes

 

1.       Survey of graduates: Forty three percent consider core courses to have been "very

beneficial" to their education, 40% rated them "moderately beneficial". Twenty seven percent consider the core courses to have been "very beneficial" to their careers, 45% rated them "moderately beneficial. Fifty three of 67 who responded are working full time. Forty eight percent had "little difficulty" finding employment and 20% had "moderate difficulty". Thirty nine percent continued their education after graduation.
