Goals

 

1.       Provide coherent, applications-oriented learning experiences focusing on the multidisciplinary scope of computing

2.       Mastery of core knowledge of computing, with in-depth knowledge of a concentration

3.       Expose students to major hardware/software concepts and environments of current importance

4.       Make students aware of legal ethical, and societal issues in computing

 

G. C. P. Correlation­

 

           1.   Several CS courses in G.C.P. [Parts ID(b) and IIA]

2.       Computer Science is an interdisciplinary field, intersecting with business, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, and the sciences

 

Means of Assessment           

 

1.       To qualify for graduation, students will have to take subject-area test provided by ETS (expected beginning 2002)

2.       Substantial final project required in several senior-level courses (CS 425, CS 433, CS 437, CS 455, and CS 499)

 

Outcomes

 

1.   Major was completely revised in 1997

2.   Since 1996, graduates quickly absorbed by industry; others entered graduate school

3.   Anecdotal evidence suggests success in industry and graduate school
