PROGRAM

MISSION
The Educational Development Program (EDP) is an academic support
services program whose mission is to provide access to a college or university
education for students who would not qualify due to insufficient academic
preparation and financial resources. Priority for acceptance into the program
is given to historically underrepresented groups within the university. In
addition to academic advising, course selection, supplemental instruction and
orientation course work, support services are designed to offer emotional and
social support to students so that they can reach their full potential and
develop intellectually, socially, and spiritually.
Goals and Objectives
#1 - To improve EDP
student retention rates by 5% over the next five years.
#2 - To improve EDP
student graduation rates by 5% over the next five years.
#3 - Assist the Office
of Admissions, Deans, and/or departments in recruiting minority students
throughout the state to come to Fredonia.
Measure of Goals
#1 - Determine through
student and alumni surveys which services impact most on student retention.

#3 - Review areas where
minority students who have applied to the college have come from to identify
areas of the state which have yielded the fewest number of applicants. Utilize
EDP staff, current students, community, and other state educational programs to
increase the number of applicants to the college.
