ASSESSMENT STATEMENT

 

SELF IMPROVEMENT FOR THE

OFFICE OF STUDENT ACCOUNTS

 

I.         Mission

 

Our mission is to provide outstanding service to students and parents. This includes high standards of accuracy and professionalism in dealing with all student account questions while assuring that all Federal and New York State financial aid regulations are followed.

 

II.       Goals/Objectives

 

1.   To improve student billing and collections.

2.   To improve distribution of financial aid.

2.       Comply with Federal and New York State financial aid regulations.

 

III.      Measure of Goals

 

1.   Accounts receivable at June 30, 1999 are below prior years.

2.       Improved accuracy and timeliness of financial aid application to student accounts and

refunds of excess aid to students.

3.       Reduction in the number of audit exceptions by SUNY, New York State and federal

examiners.

 

IV.      Results

 

1.   1998-99 comparisons to the previous year should indicate a reduction in college receivables.

2.       1998-99 showed improvement in both the accuracy and timeliness of financial aid

distribution.

3.   No audit.

 

V.        Feedback into the Unit

 

1.   Appropriate action was developed to increase collections as the increase of charges climbed.

2.       Appropriate action was developed to accommodate the increased distribution for federal

loans.

3.   Appropriate action taken to resolve audit exceptions.
