NOTICE: As of Wednesday 9/19/07 Tim Young is SOLD OUT for Family Weekend.

What is Family Weekend?

Family Weekend is an event sponsored by the Campus Life Office at SUNY Fredonia, in conjunction with the Faculty Student Association, Department of Theatre and Dance, and Spectrum Entertainment Board. Each fall, the college community looks forward to meeting the parents and family members of our students, and offers a weekend of special meals, tours, and performances for our very special guests.

Weekend Highlights

Friday, September 28

Begin the weekend in the Williams Center with a pre-show buffet featuring hot hors d’oeuvres, beef on weck, pizza, cheese platters and other light buffet items.

Later that evening, join us in the 1891 Fredonia Opera House to laugh out loud with award winning comedian, Tim Young. This extremely talented funny guy may look foamiliar to you considering he has performed at more than 500 colleges and universities, made an appearance on Cemedy Central's "Premium Blend," and stars in a recent Jet Blue commercial. Don't miss what promises to be a fabulously funny night.

For those families attending with younger children please join us for a classic Family Movie complete with refreshments and prizes. The film and fun is free, but tickets are required. Families looking for some exercise are welcome to ice skate in Steele Hall. Details regarding both events will be available at the registration table in the Williams Center.

After the show, complete the evening with conversation, cocktails, and student entertainment in the Williams Center.

Saturday, September 29

Throughout the day various activities will be available on and off campus for families of all ages.

Fall is a fabulous time in Fredonia and Chautauqua County. Our most popular weekend events highlight the best this season has to offer. Enjoy a scenic drive off the beaten path to Merritt Estate Winery and Woodbury Vineyards. Each winery will host a tour and tasting. Families can also spend the afternoon exploring Cross Roads Farm and Craft Market where local artisans, crafters and farmers display their wares and homemade specialties. Transportation will be provided for both tours. Sign up at the registration table on Saturday in the Williams Center.

Other fun opportunities on campus include watching a SUNY Fredonia women's tennis or soccer match and listing to quality performance of the College Symphony in King Concert Hall.

Sunday, September 30

Before you say goodbye, join your student for breakfast in Erie Dining Center. Our Travelers’ breakfast will include a wide range of breakfast items served buffet style.

If you didn’t get a chance to shop at the Bookstore during the weekend, special Bookstore hours will be available from 10 am – 2 pm.
