A native of Randolph, NY, Sara earned her
B.S. degree in biochemistry from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY and her
secondary education certification from the University of Buffalo. Enrolled
in the master's program at Fredonia, Sara is working on a research project
under the guidance of Dr. Holly Lawson. Her interests involve inspiring
inquiry and curiosity in adolescents through hands-on and minds-on
experiences both in the laboratory and the classroom. For example, giving
students a periodic puzzle where they would devise an arrangement of the
elements according to their properties. Sara is working on four laboratory
experiments that will be tested in Dr. Lawson's lab next semester. Sara
also has research experience at the University of Nevada doing organo-
metallic chemistry with ruthenium, at the University of Vermont
synthesizing natural products and at the NIH (National Institutes of
Health) in Bethesda, MD studying the mechanism of protein folding. Sara
is currently teaching general chemistry lab along with her coursework.
