Mike is a junior chemistry major, who is doing
undergraduate research under the supervision of Dr. Holly Lawson. His project is
the synthesis and characterization of a novel ruthenium complex. The ruthenium compound
has potential as a DNA intercalator. The highly-colored purple complex can fit
between the base pairs of DNA, and is useful in monitoring the electron transfer
that occurs within the molecule. Mike has been accepted for a summer internship
at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland
