Introduction
I have a diverse professional background. I taught in public school special education settings for twenty years, teaching children with a wide background of special needs at the elementary and middle school levels. This was followed with nine years as a School Library Media Specialist, servicing the full range of grade levels from kindergarten through twelve. I then accepted an administrative position as Director of the Erie 2 Chautauqua Catteraugus BOCES Media Center which provided media serviced by the 27 school districts that are part of E2CC BOCES. Following my public school career and years at BOCES I joined the faculty at SUNY Fredonia as a full time adjunct. I have supervised student teachers, taught EDU 250, EDU 276, EDU 215, EDU 214, and EDU 404.Teaching Interests
The main courses that I teach are EDU 276 "Literacy and Technology in the Elementary School" and EDU 215 "Schools in American Society", although I have taught other courses for the department. Having been a School Library Media Specialist for a number of years I have a strong interest in courses that involve technology, literacy, and children's literature.Research Interests
Much of my interest in terms of research has been on the use of technology in classrooms and on literacy skills. I have also spent a good deal of time researching the use of primary source documents in the public schools and have developed a web page to support the use of PSD.Educational Background
