TEACH Online Services Instructions for Graduate Students
FIRST: Do you have a TEACH User Name and Password?
If you do, SKIP THIS STEP. If not, create User Name and Password:
In order to apply online you must create a TEACH login and password at the New York State Directory Services. Instructions are provided as you go through the self-registration process. To self-register and login to TEACH go to http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/teach/login.html and follow the instructions provided at this site.
SECOND: Login to TEACH.
1. To log into TEACH, go to http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/teach/login.html and enter your Username and Password (that you JUST created) and click the “Login” button.
Once you have logged into TEACH click on the purple box that says: TEACH Online Services
2. Click on “Apply for Certificate” under the Online Application
3. Read the information provided and click Next (bottom right) to continue
4. Click the “Edit Education Info” Box
5. Click the radio button in front of “Approved New York Teacher Certification Programs: Select this radio button if you completed a New York State institution that leads to a recommendation for a teaching certificate."

6. When finished, click the “Add”, then “Done” box
7. Confirm that your Education Information is accurate by clicking the “Next” box
8. Read the information provided
9. To add any FULL TIME TEACHING EXPERIENCE click the "Edit Employment Info"

Select your Certificate Title
By using the drop down boxes, fill in your area of interest, subject area, grade level, title, and type of certificate.

10. At this point you will be asked if you are currently enrolled in a teacher preparation program or have graduated from one that will be recommending you for the certification you are applying for . Please use the list of programs and program codes below to assist you in this step. Remember that a program code should only be used for certifications that SUNY Fredonia is recommending you for.

For a list of the certifications that can be recommended for if you are enrolled in the C&I program, please visit the Inventory of Registered Programs. All other programs have the ability to only recommend for the certificate associated with the topic of the program.
11. When finished with each certification, click “Add”
12. After you have entered all certifications you are applying for click “Next"
The rest is up to you! Proceed with reading and answering questions that follow under the headings:Certification Regarding Child Support and Moral Character Determination
When finished, sign the Affidavit by clicking the “Sign Affidavit” box
With that, READ the information on the next page and sign the application by clicking the “Sign Application” box. After that, you will be taken to the “check out” section and will be prompted to make a payment. If you would like to pay by credit card at a later time you may choose to pay by mail and then access your TEACH account at a later time. BE SURE TO READ CAREFULLY and FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS

TEACH Online Services will be available to you 24/7 so that you may enter your application online and check the status of your application at your convenience. Initially TEACH Technical support will be available to you by telephone Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at (518) 486-6041 or 24/7 via email at teachhelp@mail.nysed.gov. Please note, the above venues are only able to supply technical assistance as you access TEACH Online Services. If you have questions concerning your certification(s), you should contact your college certification office via e-mail at edu@fredonia.edu. If your college is unable to answer your questions, you may contact the Office of Teaching Initiatives at tcert@mail.nysed.gov. However, due to the large volume of e-mail received, the Office of Teaching Initiatives may not be able to respond in as timely a manner as we would like.
