Senior Plans

Amanda Anderson (B.A. English/Adolescence Education) will be a graduate assistant in the Office of Admissions while pursuing a master's degree in English at SUNY Fredonia.

Robert Aumer (B.S. Mathematics) will be a graduate assistant at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology this fall, pursuing a Master of Science degree in Operations Research/Statistics.

Valerie P. Baish (B.S. Chemistry) has been accepted into a Ph.D. program at the State University at Buffalo.

Amanda Chmela (B.F.A. Musical Theatre) is attending SUNY Binghamton in the fall to begin working toward a Master of Music degree in Opera Perfomance, and has been offered a teaching assistantship to includes full tuition and a living expenses stipend. She has also been accepted into Tri-Cities Opera Residence Artist Program that works in conjunction with the university. She was a featured performer at the Commencement Eve Pops Concert and will also travel to Italy in May as part of Lyric Arts International, a performing group founded by faculty in the School of Music and Department of Theatre and Dance. Alden Jack (A.J.) Edson (B.S. Mathematics) graduated in December 2007 and worked at SUNY Fredonia during the spring semester as a project coordinator for the Collaboration of Quality Instructional Outcomes Project, a New York State Department of Education-funded grant awarded to Drs. Kathleen Gradel and Michael Jabot. In the fall, he will serve as a Research Assistant Fellow with the Center for the Study of Mathematics Curriculum at Western Michigan University, enrolled in its master's degree/doctoral program in mathematic education.

Stephanie Faatz (B.F.A. Musical Theatre) is moving to Memphis, Tenn., to begin a 14-month contract with Playhouse on the Square as an associate company member. She will perform in eight productions, including three regional premieres.

Kevin Freese (B.S. Mathematics Sciences) will be attending Kent State University, working toward a Master of Science degree in Financial Engineering.

Kaitlyn Gang (B.S. Commun./Public Relations) has been hired for inside sales at Advanced Sports, Inc., in Philadelphia, Pa.

Dr. Carleton L. Gaupp (B.S. Chemistry/Adolescence Education) returned to SUNY Fredonia and earned his teaching credentials after working in the private sector for several years. He is currently interviewing for high school chemistry teaching positions.

Kaleena and Kayleigh Goldsworthy (B.A. Interdisciplinary Studies: Music Business) and their band, The Scarlet Ending, have been invited by Armed Forces Entertainment, the official Department of Defense agency that provides entertainment to military personnel overseas, to join a 20-day tour in North and Central Europe. Devin K. Grady (B.S. Computer and Information Sciences) will be attending Rice University in Houston, Texas, enrolled in the Ph.D. program in the Department of Computer Science. He has a graduate fellowship from Rice as well as a fellowship from Texas Instruments, and will be working in Dr. Lydia Kavraki's robotics lab beginning in July.

Rebecca K. Grady (B.A. Sociology) will enter the Ph.D. program in sociology at the University of Indiana at Bloomington. She has a teaching assistantship guaranteed for the first five years of study.

Stacey Hicks (B.S. Ed. Child. Inclu. Ed: Math. 7-9 Ext.) will be attending Buffalo State College in the fall, pursuing a master's degree in Childhood and Early Childhood Curriculum and Instruction. She also plans to do some substitute teaching a few days a week.

Holly G. Kaas (B.S. Biology) will remain at SUNY Fredonia for graduate studies as an Interdisciplinary Studies student working toward teaching certification in biology and chemistry, grades seven through 12.

Rachael M. Lesher (B.S. Mathematics-Physics) has a second major in Biochemistry and a minor in Mathematics. She will be teaching teaching General Chemistry I and II next year at SUNY Fredonia as an adjunct faculty member before moving on to graduate school.

Stephanie Magliocco (B.A. Psychology) will attend SUNY Plattsburgh in its School Psychology master's degree program and as a graduate assistantship working as a Resident Director.

Brad Meder (B.A. History) has accepted the position of Logistics Manager with the U.S. Department of the Army, working at the Pentagon and responsible for the handling and transportation of military weapons, personnel and equipment.

Student Association President Cody Meyers (B.A. Political Science) has been hired as a staff assistant in the Buffalo Regional Office of U.S. Senator Charles Schumer.

Richard "Monte" Montgomery (B.A. Music-Applied) plans to move to Pittsburgh, Pa., to start private voice study with SUNY Fredonia alumnus Douglas Ahlstedt at Carnegie Mellon University. He performed at the Commencement Eve Pops Concert and will travel to to Italy in May as part of Lyric Arts International, a performing group founded by faculty from the School of Music and Department of Theatre and Dance. Jessica Mykins (B.F.A. Production Design) will work this summer at Cortland (N.Y.) Repertory Theatre as a stage manager and company manager.

Senior Class President Patrick Newell (B.A. Social Studies/Adolescence Education) will attend Buffalo State College next fall to pursue his master's degree in education.

Alexandra Orchard (BS. Biochemistry) will enter the State University of New York at Buffalo in a Ph.D. program in Chemistry this fall.

Charles Polgar (B.S. Geophysics) will attend the University of Akron (Ohio) next year where he was awarded a graduate assistantship and will pursue a master's degree in Geophysics.

Lanford Presidential Prize recipient Christopher P. Reybrouck (B.A. English/Adolescence Education) is also the recipient of the 2008 Cresence Ehmke Graham Award for Excellence in Student Teaching presented by the Department of English. He will attend the State University of New York at Buffalo this fall to pursue a master's degree in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Student Affairs, and is one of only eight students selected for the program concentration. His graduate assistantship will be working on the North Campus with the LateNight UB program.

Edwin Rodriguez (B.S. Commun./Public Relations) has been hired as the Marketing, Promotions and Public Relations director for Merritt Estate Winery in Forestville, N.Y.

Brittany Schnauber (B.A. Criminal Justice) will attend the State University of New York at Buffalo in pursuit of a Master of Social Work degree.

Kathleen Sereika (B.F.A. Musical Theatre) will perform for the Inter-Lakes Region Summer Theatre during June and July in productions of "Carousel," "The Buddy Holly Story" and "Anything Goes." In August, she will run a theater camp in Rochester, N.Y., called P.U.R.E. Creativity, and will assist with SUNY Fredonia's theater camp for youth, Playground.

After graduating in December 2007, Kevin M. Skully, (B.S. Bus. Admin./Marketing) moved to New York City. After doing freelance work for Marc Jacobs and Estee Lauder's (Origins) Global Communications Department, he accepted the position with Gap Inc. as the New York City regional assistant for the Old Navy division.

Daniel Spitaliere (B.A. Social Studies/Adolescence Education) will return to Long Island and attend graduate school at New York University in a dual certification program for Social Studies education and Theatre education. He is also interviewing for a job at Barrow Street Theatre in New York City's Greenwich Village. He adds, "I truly feel that (SUNY) Fredonia has prepared me for 'the real world."

Jared Scott Tesler (B.S. Commun./Public Relations) has received a graduate assistantship at Ithaca College, where he will pursue his master's degree in Communications.

Kristen Tompkins (B.F.A. Production Design) will backpack in Europe this summer and hopes to land a job teaching English in Greece. After she returns, she hopes that graduate school and work in costume crafts are in her future.

Victoria Vargas (Mus.B. Music Performance) was a featured performer at the Commencement Eve Pops Concert and sang the national anthem at both Commencement ceremonies. This summer she will be participating in the Martina Arroyo Prelude to Performance Program in New York City, and this fall will attend the Manhattan School of Music for graduate studies.

Kamilah Whitfield (B.A. Theatre Arts) is taking a turn into journalism by interning at local news stations, with a move planned to California in September where she hopes to pursue graduate studies.

Debbie Williams (B.F.A. Musical Theatre) was a featured performer at the Commencement Eve Pops Concert. She will head to Los Angeles on June 11 to begin rehearsals for Holland America Cruises under Stiletto Entertainment as a singer/dancer, after which she'll be heading to Rome, Italy, performing for cruises that tour the Eastern and Western Mediterranean and Transatlantic.

Tiarra Worthington (B.S. Geology) will attend North Carolina State University in Raleigh, where she has been awarded a teaching assistantship and will pursue a master's degree in Hydrogeology.
