Communication Scholarships
Fredonia’s Department of Communication is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2024-2025 academic year. Scholarship amounts in the form of tuition remission range from $250-$1,800.
General Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a communication major.
- Although a student can apply for more than one scholarship, the student will only be awarded one scholarship per academic year.
- A student cannot earn the same scholarship twice. You can only apply for scholarships that you haven’t already received.
- Applicants must plan to attend the department’s honors celebration that will be held on April 20, 2024.
- Each scholarship has its own eligibility requirements. Be sure to read the requirements carefully.
- With the exception of the Bernstein scholarship, the scholarships are for the 2024-2025 academic year; therefore, applicants must be returning to Fredonia in Fall 2024.
How to apply:
- Read through the list of scholarships and identify up to 5 scholarships for which you’d like to apply.
- Each scholarship has different requirements that must be addressed in a resume and an essay.

- Online applications https://forms.gle/C3eqpUDToGgVqiS3A must be submitted by February 14, 2024, at 11:59 PM
Scholarship recipients will be notified in early March and will be awarded the scholarship at the department’s honors celebration on April 20, 2024.

Chilberg Applied Communication Award - Community Service Experience
Arthur R. Maytum Scholarship - Communication Major
Richard & Pamela Ryan Scholarship - Sophomore or junior from New York State
Anthony J. Ellis Scholarship - Communication major
Louis C. and Dr. S. David Adler Scholarship - Sophomore majoring in journalism
Anne Bernstein Memorial Fund - Female majoring in journalism
Edward S. Edelman Scholarship - Junior or senior who worked at WCVF
Kathleen McDonough Communication Scholarship - Jr or senior video production major
Dan Berggren Excellence in Audio/Radio Scholarship - Taken at least 2 audio courses
The Ann Reynolds Carden Public Relations Star Award - Junior majoring in PR
Arlie Muller Parks Scholarship - Freshmen female
