Start time: Duathlon @ 9:30 AM; "Fun Run" @ 9:40 AM
Awards Ceremony: 12 noon (during post-race lunch buffet @ Clarion Hotel)

 

Course

The "Connections" Duathlon consists of a 14-mile bike loop through the streets of Dunkirk and Fredonia, followed by a 5K (3.1 mile) run along the shores of Lake Erie.

Bike RouteThe “Connections” Duathlon starts at the SUNY Fredonia Business Technology Incubator at 214 Central Ave. in Dunkirk, NY. Start on Central Avenue in front of the Business Technology Incubator (Dunkirk). Follow Central Ave. from Downtown Dunkirk into Fredonia. (3 miles). Central Ave. will dead-end into Temple Street. Turn left onto Temple Street. Temple becomes Water Street beyond Main Street in Downtown Fredonia. Continue on Water Street to Webster Road. (2 miles) Turn right on Webster Road to Chautauqua St. (2 miles) Turn right on Chautauqua St. Just before Rte 20 (Main Street) turn right onto Houghton. Houghton will dead end into Seymour St. (1.25 miles) Turn left on Seymour Street, which becomes Chestnut Street after the light. Continue on Chestnut to Willow. (2.5 miles) Turn right onto Willow and take it to Brigham Road. (2.25 miles) Turn right on Lakeshore Drive. End at Memorial Park transition area. (1500 feet or so). Running RouteThe run will follow the paved path around the park. Starting on the front end of the park, follow the paved path around to the backside of the park (closest to the waterfront) exiting onto Woodrow Avenue.  Take Woodrow Avenue to Lakeshore Dr. (Half of this road will be shut down during the race.) Follow Lakeshore to Point Drive. Turn right onto Point drive and follow this road around Point Gratiot back to Lakeshore Ave. Follow Lakeshore back to Memorial Park. A visual map of the Running Route can be found here.

Registration

On-line registration
(credit card payment only) is available until 6:00 PM on Friday, April 16, 2010.

On-site registration will run from 8:00 - 9:00 AM on the day of the event at the SUNY Fredonia Business Technology Incubator.
All entry fees include a t-shirt (youth size for FUN RUN). Duathlon entry fees also include a ticket to the post-race lunch buffet for participants. Additional meal tickets to the post-race lunch buffet (for family & friends) may be purchased day-of for $10 each.

 

Packet Pick Up

Packets will be available for pick up on the day of the event from 8:00 - 9:15 AM at the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator.

 

Brackets

19 & Under, 20-29, 30-29, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & Over

 

Awards 

Duathlon: Overall Male & Female; Top 3 Finishers in each of the age brackets (above); Overall Teams (Male, Female, & Co-Ed)
Fun Run: Top 3 Finishers; All participants receive a medal

The award ceremony will take place at 12 (noon) in the Clarion Hotel Ballroom during the post-race lunch buffet. All duathlon participants get into the lunch buffet for free. Additional meal tickets (for friends and family) can be purchased at the Clarion Hotel on the day of the event for $10 each.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the
Clarion Hotel
for duathlon participants at a discounted rate. Please contact the
Clarion Hotel

for more information. Be sure to mention the duathlon when making your reservation.

 

Proceeds

Proceeds from the "Connections " Duathlon will help provide support for "Green" Initiatives and Sustainability Endeavors within Chautauqua County.
