The Sate University of New York College at Fredonia will provide for its STEP and CSTEP students,
technology instruction in the form of a Mobile Digital Media Studio for Educational Purposes.
Bring Learning to Life
Integrating digital media can increase the relevance of school for students living in today's media-rich
environment. It also gives students of all backgrounds, experices, and capabilities new ways of communicating
and expressing themselves.
What's Involved
Apple's Mobile Digital Media Studio. With the use of ibook Wireless Mobile Lab, all the necessary technology is stored on a portable
cart. An Air Port Base Station keeps the lab's ibook computers connected wirelessly up to 150 feet away. We
can set up a digital media production environment in a lab, classroom or in the library.
Digital mdia projects helps keep CSTEP students engaged in projects requiering higheer critical thinking skills,
and in-depth independent learning on a specific subject magtter. Student's ability to communicate their learning
to others is greatly enhanced through the use of digital media tools.
CSTEP Activities
In the Digital Media Studio project, students form a team whose objective(s) will be
to plan and produce a documentary for a presentation in video format and possibly a website
which will explain their particular research project, their data collecting process, and their
final results.
The final project(s) will be made available for the statewide STEP and CSTEP student coference.
