Judy Shepard will speak regarding civil rights, hate crimes and equality. Mrs. Shepard is the mother of Matthew Shepard who, as a 21-year-old gay college student, was brutally murdered - sparking state and federal hate crime legislation. In the aftermath of Matthew's death, Judy and Dennis Shepard started The Matthew Shepard Foundation, the mission of which is to erase hate by replacing it with understanding, compassion and acceptance. This event occurs during the run of the Department of Theatre and Dance productions of both 'The Laramie Project' and 'The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later', which deal with the murder and the aftermath.This event is free but tickets are required. Tickets are available through the Campus Ticket Office in the Williams Center.

World-renowned violin soloist and former Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Concertmaster Michael Ludwig joins violinist Rachael Mathey for Bach’s famous "double” concerto for violins. The Fredonia Women’s Choir is featured in Michael Haydn’s "Missa Sancti Aloysii" and Glen Cortese's "Concerto for String Quartet and String Orchestra." Ludwig enjoys a multi-faceted career as a soloist, recording artist, and chamber musician. His discography includes recordings of the Beethoven Violin Concerto, Bruch "Scottish Fantasy" and "Dvorak Romance" with the Virginia Symphony.
