Alberto Rey a SUNY Distinguished Professor, is in charge of the curriculum for the Drawing and Painting Program. He holds a BFA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a MFA from State University of New York at Buffalo with additional post-graduate work from Harvard University. While at SUNY Fredonia, Alberto Rey was promoted to SUNY Distinguished Professor for Research and Creative Activity (2007) and has received the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Activities (2003), the Kasling Lecturer Award (2001), the William T. and Charlotte N. Hagan Young Scholar/Artist Award (1994) and the Minority Visiting Scholar Award from Central Missouri State University (1994). He has also been a panelist for both the New York State Council for the Arts and New York Foundation for the Arts. His artwork is in the permanent collections of the Albright Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York; Bronx Museum of the Arts, Bronx, New York; Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, New York; Burchfield-Penney Art Center, Buffalo, New York; Castellani Art Museum, Niagara University, New York; El Museo del Barrio, New York, New York; Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York; and Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa, Florida. His work has also been presented in over one hundred and twenty exhibitions in the United States, Mexico, and Spain.
