web-designer at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in Princeton, NJ.
Her responsibilities include creation and maintenance of MLIM's html
web sites for the intra- and Internet, production of Flash and video
presentations, and creation and distribution and tracking of various

• Darryl Norsen (BFA Graphic Design) dnorsen@graphic-designer.com
is currently living in Boston after leaving Rochester to pursue graphic
design as a full-time career. He has been working with several friends
under their monikers of 'Birdhead' and 'Prank.' Birdhead is a textile
driven design firm, which has been getting attention from Fred Flare
(fredflare.com). Also, several pieces of their stationary are going
to be exhibited at the National Stationary Conference in NYC this spring.
Darryl has also been doing poster work for a number of national and
regional bands with one poster (after 2 weeks of showing in downtown
Boston) being recently submitted to a New England Design Show which

Ault (BFA Media Arts) In
the year since I graduated I have found 3 media arts-related jobs and
ultimately moved to Washington, DC, where I design and develop web-based
interactive training systems for the Navy. The government and military
has literally thousands of contractor jobs available for multimedia
professionals. My education at SUNY Fredonia prepared me for the career
I have today. There are jobs waiting for Media Arts graduates right

•Hannah Birch (BFA Drawing), was accepted into the Master of Art
program in Printmaking at Ball State University and was granted a tuition
waiver, stipend and Teaching Assistantship.
•Rory Coyne (BFA Painting) was accepted to the University of New
Mexico and was given a full Teaching Assistantship.
•Ryan Dailey (BFA Illustration), RYBLINK182@hotmail.com,
lives in Chittenango, NY and is currently working as a graphic designer
at Book'Em Productions/ CopShop.com. Ryan designs art proofs, logos,
etc. for the creation of patches, badges, and pins for law enforcement
agencies and related clientele.

is currently pursuing her Masters of Science in Teaching Degree for
art education at the Rochester Institute of Technology expected May,
2004.
•Aimee Dobberstein (BA Graphic Design), aldobb19@yahooo.com,
moved to Arlington, Virginia to work as an intern at the Smithsonian
Institution, National Museum of American History in the Graphic Exhibition
Department. Aimee currently works as a graphic technician for a private
graphic exhibits firm, designing and producing large exhibits contracted
out by the Smithsonian.

• Hilary Batzel (BFA Studio Art concentration in Ceramics), hil_rye@hotmail.com
is in her final year of graduate school where she is pursuing an MFA
in Printmaking. She has been a Graduate Assistant/Program Assistant
at the University Museum of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Hilary,
who is a member of the College Art Association, expects to graduate
with a MFA in printmaking in the spring/summer of 2005. She received
an Outstanding Graduate Research Award for "The Imprint of Origin"
a research paper, which is the beginning of her written thesis. During
the summer of 2004 she will be interned at the Artists Image Resource
at the Foreland Galleries in Pittsburgh this summer. This is an innovative
print shop and archive/gallery space.

worked at the Graphics Group, a graphic design company in Ithaca, NY.
She is currently working at Fahy-Williams Publishing, a magazine publishing
company, since March 2002. Kristin is living in Geneva, NY and is also
still active with ceramics/pottery.

•April Hand-Smith (BA Illustration), handapril@hotmail.com,
followed her education at Fredonia by attending an Art Education Certification
program @ BSC. For the past three years, April has been teaching in
the Southwestern School District, where she teaches Studio in Art at
the high school level and also art classes to 4th and 5th graders. April
is currently working on her Masters in Art Education at BSC. She has
also worked for the Chautauqua Arts Council.
1997
•Danielle Perla (BA Art Photo), Perlita75@hotmail.com,
moved to New York City where she interned with a photographer in Soho
for four months after graduation. She attended Buffalo State College
for one semester before entering RIT's one-year Master Certification
program from which she graduated in 1999. Danielle has recently married
and is currently in her 3rd year of teaching Art at Orchard Park High
School where she teaches Studio In Art, Ceramics I, Interior Design
and other classes.
•Julie Szurgot (BA Painting), danszur@buffnet.net,
worked with children for two years in an Early Childhood Center. Julie
was then accepted into Buffalo State College's Art Education Program.
She has taken some time off from that and has two semesters left to
complete. She continues to paint and participates in Outdoor Art Shows.
Julie has also become involved in photography and started a business
called "Jewels of the Earth" which is art inspired by nature
and incorporates the various mediums she works with.

• Jennifer (Vogel) Matott
matott@liverpool.k12.ny.us is an Art teacher at Liverpool Middle School,
Liverpool, NY. She is a ceramic sculptor who exhibited in Everson Museum,
Schweinfurth Art Gallery, Oswego Art Center and many group exhibits.
Jennifer married in 2000 and is expecting her first child in Nov.2004.
She has been the New York State Art Educator of the Year for Region
3, NYSATA region President and Treasurer, and also President of the
Syracuse Chapter of Sigma Kappa Alumni. Jennifer was the DeFrancisco
Arts Grant winner in 2002 and 2004 for ceramic sculpture series on breast
cancer and eating disorders.

is an art teacher for 2-8 year olds in various private schools, camps,
workshops etc. She has also worked as a visual merchandiser in retail
stores. Jill currently lives in West Haven, CT.

• Rohan Patrick (MFA Graphic Design) rpatrick@th-record.com pursued
graduate studies in Communication Design in 1994 at the University at
Buffalo and MA in Illustration 2004 at Syracuse University. He has two
children Hannah and Rohan, Jr. Rohan currently lives in Monticello,
NY and works as a Special Publication Designer at the Times-Herald-Record.

•Robin Banker (BFA Graphic Design), started as a graphic designer
in 1995 at Idea Connections; a Rochester, NY based Advertising and Promotions
Agency. She continues to work there as an Art Director.
•Daniel Jones (BFA Graphic Design), djones@catdir.com,
(along with fellow classmate Jack DelGado) started Westhouse Design
in 1991 a graphic design firm located in Greenville, South Carolina.
They were in business together for 8 years. In 1999 Dan joined Catalyst
Direct, Inc. in Rochester, NY where he is currently the company's Associate
Creative Director.

1993. He worked in a public school in Maryland from 1993-1999 as an
elementary art teacher and from 1999-2002 as a secondary art teacher.
Philip is currently enrolled in M. Arch program at the University of

• Michael Collins (BFA-concentration

in Suffern, NY. Michael was also a cross country and track runner at
Fredonia.

•Linda Falcone is currently living in Forestville, NY.
•Melissa Sorci (BA Fine Art), is divorced with two children-ages
16 and 18. Over the years she has worked in various capacities as store
merchandiser, buyer, interior decorator and teacher. Melissa currently
owns her own Interior Decorating business with a storefront in downtown
Fredonia. She works in both residential and commercial jobs, and as
every job is different with services ranging from consultations to whole
houses, Melissa thoroughly enjoys her work.

•Laurel
Long (Art), LAURELLONG@AOL.COM, earned
her MFA from Syracuse University in 1982. She then worked as a full
professor of Art at the California State University in Northridge. In
1998 through the present, she has worked as a children's book illustrator
with Dial Penguin Publishing. In 1999 she was awarded a Gold Medal from
the New York Society of Illustrators. Laurel lives in La Verne, CA.

is self-employed as an artist and musician. Chuck also does picture
framing and supplies retail stores with items.

•Diane (Korona) Booth (Art & Art History), dmb1954@hotmail.com,
is married to Mark Booth (also a '76 alumnus of Fredonia) and they have
3 children. She earned her Master of Science in Education from Elmira
College. Diane lives in Lansing, NY and is currently an art teacher
in the Ithaca School District.
•Jamie Greenfield (BA Studio Art), jgreenf@lawrenceville.org,
is an artist and currently Chair of the Art Department at the Lawrenceville
School in central NJ. She lives in Lawrenceville with her husband Richard
Goldberg and her son Alex, and stepdaughter Maggie.

•Laurie Ourlicht (BA), paperdolly@earthlink.net,
earned her MFA in 1985 from Tyler School of Art of Temple University.
She taught printmaking at City University of New York at Kingsborough
Community College and was also a visiting artist at two other colleges.
Laurie has had various art exhibits throughout NY City and the U.S.
and has also been the recipient of several art grants. In the spring
of 2003 she completed an A.A. Degree in Nursing and in the fall of 2003
Laurie began a nurse/midwifery program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
Laurie is also the mother of 7 year old Sam.
1974
•Robert Whiteside (BA Studio Art: Painting/Sculpture), PRESENTLOOK@YAHOO.COM,
earned his Master of Fine Arts at RIT and most recently completed a
Graduate Art Therapy Certification Program at Nazareth College of Rochester.
During this time he provided creative art therapy at the Jewish Home
of Rochester for older adults ranging in age from 55 to over 100 years.
He also implemented a monthly program which brings together young children
ages 3-4 with the older residents where they encourage and learn from
one another. Robert is also currently an Adjunct Professor of Fine Arts
at Monroe Community College. From 1995 through the present time, Robert
also worked as a Carousel Artist, as he researched, designed, and painted
the new Seabreeze Carousel. For the past year he has also worked as
Assistant Director for the Horses on Parade Gallery in Rochester, New
York.

is working as an Art Teacher at Niagara Falls High School where she
is the Department Chair of Fine Arts. She is also an exhibiting artist
is the Western New York area.

is currently teaching beginning ceramics at the University of Oregon's
Erb Memorial Union Craft Center in Eugene, Oregon. She received her
MFA from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York. Ann has resided in Eugene,
Oregon since 1989 with her husband and daughter.
