Jan Conradi
Jan Conradi is
a Professor of Graphic Design. Her focus in design education emphasizes
concept and process, design history and typography. She often presents
papers on typography and design education and her writings on design
have been published by Icograda and Design Issues as well as in books
by Steven Heller, Philip Meggs, and Elizabeth Resnick. She is presently
researching and writing a book documenting Unimark International,
a design firm influential for introducing European modernist ideas
into American corporate communications. She received her Master of
Arts in Graphic Design from Iowa State University. Prior to joining
the faculty at Fredonia, Conradi taught at Ball State University in
Muncie, Indiana and she was an art director at Wm. C. Brown Company
Publishers in Dubuque, Iowa. Conradi’s personal design work emphasizes
her interest in letterforms and typography. She is the founder of
ComingHome Press, a venture dedicated to letterpress printing and
limited edition hand-bound artist books. In addition, she maintains
an independent design and consulting practice. She is a member of
the American Institute of Graphic Arts and the Society of Typographic
Aficionados. |
