Communication Studies emphasizes the human interaction in both mediated and nonmediated communication. The program focuses on how people can communicate effectively interpersonally, in small group settings, within larger organizations, between cultures, and via many forms of communication media.  Students learn theory, communication applications, and research skills in a variety of communication systems.  The goal of Communication Studies is to develop the student's ability to understand and apply theories and skills in communication performance, message construction, and communication analysis and evaluation across social and professional settings.  The curriculum prepares students to become a communication generalist and to pursue graduate studies in a number of areas, including student personnel services, business, education, training, and communication.
