My first trip tp Bulgaria was in July of 1995. It remains my favorite country to visit and I am able to go about once a year. In the summer of 2005, took a group of Fredonia students on a 17-day study-tour.
Alexander Nevsky Church in Sofia
Downtown Rousse where I spent most
of my time in Bulgaria
Tsaravets in Veliko
Turnovo where tsars and patriarchs lived when it was capital of
Bulgaria (12th-14th centuries). A nice sound and light show (much
less pretentious than the one at the Accropolis in Athens) takes place
on Summer evenings.
During the Fall 1997 semester, I was a Fulbright Scholar at the American University in Bulgaria which is located in Blagoevgrad.

The Varosha (Old Town) of Blagoevgrad. Almost every
Bulgarian city has an old town area.

When my daughter Laura broke her leg, our next
door neighbor Radi came (with her cats) to visit every night.
