MINI JOB/INTERNSHIP FAIR

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

12-3 p.m. Williams Center S-204 ABC

Tuesday, April 30th, 12-3pm in the Williams Center (S-204-ABC), will mark the first English Works event! This is a new student group, now acknowledged by Student Association, to help English students connect to professional opportunities.

We are sponsoring a mini internship/job fair From 12 to 3 p.m. geared specifically towards English majors/writing minors. This event features a CDO presentation at 12:40 p.m. about marketing these skills to employers, followed by a panel at 1 p.m. of graduates, staff and business leaders on "The Value of an English Degree in the Modern Workplace." From 2 to 3 p.m. the event will wrap up with a networking mingle where students can talk one-on-one with relevant organizations from both on- and off-campus that offer opportunities to English majors. This will be a great opportunity to plan for the future and expand on your skills in writing, editing, reading, researching and marketing.

The students of English Works talked to Fredonia State English graduates.

We asked the tough questions; we heard their stories; we wrote their stories.

We’ve talked to some who have ended up as professors and researchers,

but also others who have left academia and traveled around the world,

learning, planning, networking,

getting paid to write!

We’re here to tell their story,

and we’re here to address the question:

“Well, what do you want to do with an English degree?”
