Graduate Scholarships & Awards

The English department offers an atypically large number of competitive scholarships and prizes recognizing superior academic achievement. These awards range from $50 to $3,000, and give ambitious and bright students not only financial support, but also intellectual promotion of a kind that will increase their potential for superior placement in career fields and graduate institutions of their choice. For writing awards, papers are nominated by faculty mentors. The department also awards outstanding academic performance and excellent student teaching for Secondary Education majors. Each Spring semester, an annual awards ceremony for all award-winning students and their parents is held during the last week of classes.
