Review of Major League Baseball Websites

This website is a collective review of other websites about Major League Baseball. We have narrowed it down to six websites, three of which we recommend and three we do not feel are as informative. We rated each site with a letter grade, A+ being the highest.

New York Yankees Homepage

This award winning site we found to be informative and useful. It included; complete game coverage, chat rooms with players, batting and pitching statistics, weekly team reports, complete team roster with player biographies, tributes, video, audio and text archives in a multimedia Yankees time machine. This site also includes links to minor league affiliates and player home pages. We felt that any question you had about the Yankees could be answered on this site.
Rating: A+

ESPN.com

At the ESPN homepage you will find listings for all professional sports. We found that the baseball section was put together well. It included team scores, schedules, standings, stats, transactions, player lineups and records of injuries. It also included articles on current baseball headlines. It gave individual player profiles for every professional baseball player. It allowed you to interact and participate in chat rooms, polls, contests, and online inquiries. We found this site helpful as well.
Rating: A

MajorLeagueBaseball.com

This site provided information on all current baseball news. It listed all of the day's highlights, with pictures, and live game audio and video. There was an interactive "Fan Forum" that gave game information, player biographies, and links to other forums. It listed club stats for every major league team, that included rosters, disabled lists, schedules, ticket and stadium information, along with links to minor league affiliates. This site was one of the most informative that we found.
Rating: A-

MSNBC.com

This site was found to be among the weaker pages. It was lacking information that the sites listed above had. It listed the headlines, and the latest scores and schedules, as the other sites did. It did not have specific details, rendering it less useful and descriptive. However, for basic, daily updates, this site will serve your purpose.
Rating: C

Sportsnet

This site was poorly constructed, and was of little use. The news articles were from the past week, rather than the present day. It listed stats, schedules, scores, standings, and links to minor leagues. All of this information could be found at other, more interesting sites. However, if you are seeking past world series statistics, you may want to visit here.
Rating: C-

Montreal Expos Homepage

Out of the six sites we chose to review, this one is the weakest. It lists the '99 Expos' schedule, news flashes, game highlights, and player information. Compared to the Yankees homepage, it was confusing, and uninteresting. Unless you are huge Expos fan, there is no need to visit this site.
Rating: D
