4/12/05
Here are my office hours for the rest of the week: T 10-1, W 2-3, Th 2-4, and by appointment.

3/30/05
Hey all, I'll have some extra office hours this Thursday: 1-3:30, 5:30-7.

3/16/05
Recap of office hours for this week: M 2-4, T 10-4, W 2-4, TH 2-4, F 2-3. I'm available to discuss mid-term grades, past or upcoming writing assignments, or any other aspect of the course. Drop in or make an appointment to see me!

3/15/05
Hey all, I've updated the experiences and institutions introductory page to include links that I sent out over email during the unit.

3/14/05
Great news! Steve Kershnar, Associate Professor of Philosophy at SUNY Fredonia, has agreed to do a guest appearance on the Friday of the science mini-unit (i.e., the first Friday after we get back from break). He's going to argue against social constructionist theories of race based on recent developments in the field of genetics. Please see the email from him I forwarded to the listserv today for background....

3/8/05
A rough draft of the final project assignment sheet is up and running. Check it out when you get a chance!

3/7/05
Hey all, I just found out I have an emergency meeting scheduled for 2 pm today, so I'm changing my office hours to 2:30-4 today. Sorry for the late notice!

2/28/05
Hey all, I've put up the assignment sheet for the "re-vision" to the initial essay for the Identification Project. Check it out when you get a chance!

2/22/05
Hey all, I apologize for cancelling classes and office hours yesterday. I've gotten the experiences and institutions page up and running today.

2/17/05
Hey all, I have to change my office hours tomorrow from 2-3 to 11-12. Sorry for the inconvenience.

2/16/05
Hey all, I've added the link to the theories and histories unit--I encourage you to check it out!

2/12/05
Hey all, I've updated the syllabus for the opening of the "experiences and institutions" unit, giving us a chance during the first week to revisit chapters of Du Bois's Dusk of Dawn many of you missed because the books came late to the bookstore, and rearranging the readings for the second week (on the U.S. census's approach to counting and classifying people and issues stemming from it) to free up discussion space on Friday 3/11 for Professor Nancy Boynton of the Mathematics Department here at SUNY Fredonia to meet with us. So please take a look at the reading assignments for those two weeks, update any older syllabi you have printed off, and adjust your work schedule accordingly. Thanks.

2/7/05
Hey all, I've updated the reflective essays page and the links page, the latter in a fairly significant way, this past weekend and today. Check them out when you get a chance.

2/4/05
Hey all, I've finally finished the introduction to the course page--on critical race/ethnicity studies--and made minor editing updates to most of the other pages on the course web site.

2/1/05
Hey all, I have to change my office hours for today due to a candidate visit and a doctor's appointment for my daughter: 10-12 only. I'll be adding extra office hours on Thursday to make it easier for people to meet with me this week: 1-5.

1/28/05
Hey all, the long-awaited assignment sheet for the Identification Project is finally up and running. Now that it is, I've modified the main page to give more of an overview of the project in Section VI of the syllabus.

1/25/05
Hey everyone, I've put a brief description of the Identification Project on the syllabus, changed its initial due date to M 1/31, and updated the descriptions of the Discussion Questions and Reflective Essays (see Section VI of the main page for the assignment for the Identification Project). I've also added information/advice pages on the latter two assignments--just click on the above links to get to them! I'll do my best to get the Identification Project page up and running by 3 pm tomorrow!

1/21/05
Welcome to the course! Please feel free to explore the site to see what other links are active. As more get activated, I'll let you know here!
