Research focuses on 19th/20th century East Africa. Thematically, I study the development of identity in African urban settings, seeking ways of understanding how peoples of diverse social and ethnic backgrounds built bridges with each other to create a sense of community. My future project will apply this interest to East African transportation networks. |
