Research Interests: My research focuses on the culture of Africans and their descendants in the United States, particularly the role that preserving that culture played in the creation of an "American" identity.
Teaching Interests: I teach courses on U.S. and African American History, including U.S. History I, U.S. History II, African American History to 1877, and African American History since 1877
