Welcome to Interdisciplinary Studies at SUNY Fredonia

Welcome to the Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Studies home page! These major and minor programs are some of the most exciting, cutting edge programs on campus. See all programs at right.

The coordinators not only teach in the program, but they compile a menu of courses each semester that are available to the students.  These courses are taught by affiliated faculty with particular expertise and provide a unique breadth of study across a minimum of two disciplines on campus.  For instance, Music Business is an intense combination of business and music courses, with a few communications and public relations courses added to the menu.  This provides a very exciting mix of study for students who are interested in the music industry.

To continue on with the Music Business example, many student functions are integral throughout the various programs.  The students in the Music Business program started a student club appropriately entitled Music Industry Club (MIC).  They are working with the faculty and students in the Sound Recording Technology (SRT) program to create a cottage music industry at SUNY Fredonia.  It is still in the formation stages, but will be one option for internships as students move into the advanced coursework. This is just one example of the type of activities that are associated with the Interdisciplinary Studies.

Students interested in these major and/or minor programs should contact the coordinator either by phone or email.  The complete coordinator list is available by clicking About Us.

We hope you enjoy exploring the undergraduate Interdisciplinary Studies programs at SUNY Fredonia.  More than 700 undergraduate students are enrolled in one or more of the major/minor programs during any four-year cycle, so you are in very good company!
