Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Studies at SUNY Fredonia

The various Interdisciplinary Studies programs fall under the supervision of the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Melinda Karnes. AVPAA Karnes serves as adviser to the undergraduate self-design students and unofficial dean to the undergraduate students who are in the various programs. She assists the coordinators whenever possible, and the Office of the AVPAA financially supports the many programs offered throughout the year. The faculty who serve as coordinators for the major and minor students advise the students, control curriculum, and recruit affiliated faculty with specialized expertise to teach in the various programs. The coordinators also provide programming for the students through such activities as guest lectures, award competitions and ceremonies, newsletter production, social events, community service, student clubs, and internship opportunities.

Graduate Interdisciplinary Studies programs are housed in the Office of the Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Kevin Kearns.  All graduate students interested in Interdisciplinary Studies should contact Dr. Kearns at (716) 673-3808 or via email kevin.kearns@fredonia.edu.
