College Core Curriculum (CCC)

11. Upper Level Requirement - Capstone
Students must fulfuill this requirement through one of the following:
  1. Successfully completing 6 credits outside their primary majors within the upper level CCC category.
  2. Successfully completing a second major, minor, concentration, education certification or accredited study abroad program. The second major, minor or concentration cannot be in the same department as the primary major.
  3. Successfully completing a major severely impacted by the upper-level CCC category that has requested and been granted a programmatic waiver of the requirement.
12. Speaking Across the Curriculum.
Students must complete two approved speaking intensive courses. Both courses may be taken in the major, but at least one speaking intensive course must be taken in the major.

The CCC applies to all freshmen admitted Fall 2001 or later and to all transfer students admitted Fall 2002 or later. All others may complete their General Education requirements by means of the existing General College Program (GCP).

Transfer students may receive credit in Categories 1 through 10 of the CCC for similar courses taken at other colleges or approved advanced placement courses and exams. Any course approved for the SUNY General Education Requirements from a SUNY college or university will be accepted as a course in the corresponding Fredonia CCC. Courses in category 11, if required, must be taken at SUNY Fredonia. Questions pertaining to the CCC should be addressed to
