I. Course Requirements in Mathematics (42 credit hours)
- MATH 122 University Calculus I
- MATH 123 University Calculus II
- MATH 210 Discrete Mathematics
- MATH 223 University Calculus III
- MATH 231 Linear Algebra
- MAED 310 Reading and Writing Mathematics
- MATH 323 Intermediate Real Analysis
- MATH 331 Abstract Algebra I
- MATH 341 Geometry
- STAT 350 Probability and Statistics
- MATH 381 History of Mathematics
- One additional course in mathematics or statistics numbered 311 or above
- MATH 405 Senior Seminar
II. Science Requirement (4 credit hours)
- All mathematics majors must take a science and its laboratory
selected from the following courses:
- Chemistry CHEM 115 and CHEM 125
- Physics PHYS 230 and PHYS 232
- Part 7 of the College Core Curriculum requires an
additional science course.
- Additional course work in computer science strongly recommended.

NOTES:
- The School of Education conducts informational sessions
for all Education majors each academic year. These meetings are
intended to keep Education majors abreast of requirements. Attendance
at these meetings is mandatory for all Education majors.
- Students should contact the School of Education or the
Mathematics Department Office for the latest information on additional
requirements imposed by the New York State Education Department not listed
here.
- Students must complete a health record including Measles,
Mumps and Rubella (MMR) immunizations and have it on file in the
College Health Center before they will be permitted to enter area
schools for student teaching. Consult the Office of Field
Experiences (E262 Thompson, 673-3443) for details.
- All students must complete the College Core Curriculum. Consult
the College Catalog for details.
- Completion of this program leads to initial certification to teach
mathematics in grades 7 to 12 in New York State.
