My Independent Study Experience
I’ve been involved in Independent Study in the psychology department for the last four semesters, and I can honestly say that it has been one of my best experiences here at Fredonia. I have had the great opportunity to work with Dr. Sutha on a number of projects related to topics such as religious identity development, the causes of racism, and moral and anxious reactions to sexual and violent movies. The great thing about doing independent study or collaborating on research with a professor is the hands-on experience you can get in the research process. I’ve also had the special opportunity to present my research at various conferences, including at the APA Annual Convention, which was a very exciting experience. I would say that my work in independent study has brought the scientific aspects of psychology to life for me, and allowed me to apply what I’ve learned in my classes in some very exciting and interesting ways. I highly recommend independent study to anyone looking for a truly fun and educational experience!
