The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work and Criminal Justice offers majors in Sociology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice.  Minors in Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice are offered as well.

AKD Membership Eligibility

Undergraduates must be sociology majors or demonstrate a serious interest in sociology within an official program of a host institution with a chartered chapter of the Society.

Students must:

  • Be at least a junior
  • Rank in the top 35% of their class, or an overall GPA of 3.3
  • Have a sociology GPA of at least 3.0
  • Have taken at least four courses in sociology at the host institution

Sociology majors and minors at SUNY Fredonia who have met these requirements have been recommended to join Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honor Society; Alpha Iota of New York (Fredonia Chapter).  

This years induction ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 24th at 4:00 p.m. in the Sociology Department Reading Room; W380 Thompson Hall.
