"Prior to completing my Ph.D., I worked as a staff
technologist at primary, secondary and tertiary care hospitals in Ohio, and as an administrator at Children's Hospital, The Ohio State University. It is these 'applied' experiences in the health field that have led me to develop research and teaching interests in population, public health and research methods. I've found that a socio-medical perspective is valuable for better understanding a wide variety of current issues such as inequality in health care, health myths/hoaxes, and the public's response to disasters."
"I coordinate the new Interdisciplinary Minor in Public Health. The minor is a specialty of potential interest to students in biology, communication, criminal justice, environmental science, chemistry, psychology, sociology, and speech pathology, as well as others with professional or volunteer experience in human and health service delivery."
