Speech Language Evaluation and Swallowing Evaluations
A speech language evaluation for an adult is tailored to the nature of the
complaint and associated diagnosis. For example, if the complaint is
stuttering or voice, the evaluation will be very different than for individuals
who has suffered a stroke or traumatic brain injury. The main components of
an evaluation can include:
-
articulation
language comprehension
verbal expression
voice
fluency of speech
oral-peripheral examination of the speech structures
hearing screening
Therapy is provided at the Youngerman Center for a wide variety of disorders in the adult. Once the evaluation is completed, a consultation and written report will detail the results of the evaluation. If therapy is recommended, the report will include recommended goals to remediate the disorder.
