Youngerman Center Support Groups

Actions emblem

Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders offers several support groups to provide individuals and their families with guidance and support in dealing with various communication disorders.

Autism Support

WHAT IS ACTIONS?
ACTIONS is a support group for families and friends who are living with and/or caring for a child with an autism spectrum disorder. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month in Fenton Hall on the SUNY at Fredonia campus. Each month we discuss a specific autism spectrum disorder topic. Members are encouraged to suggest ideas for future topics. Meetings are free and light refreshments are served. To register for meetings or for more information about ACTIONS call:
Irene Salek-Raham 716-673-3716.

Stroke Support

The Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders offers a unique group designed to offer stroke and head injury survivors and family members an opportunity to socialize and share experiences as well as learn compensatory strategies to improve communication skills.  Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 3:00 PM in room W127 Thompson Hall.  Light refreshments are provided.  The Youngerman Center recognizes that there are individuals in the community whose insurance benefit for therapy has been exhausted but their hopes for improvement have not.  Please contact Julie Williams, Coordinator at 673-4618 for more information about attending the group.
