Overview of Internships

         All majors in Sport Management and Exercise Science are required to do an internship.  A Pre-Pre-internship is offered by the department.  The main objective of the pre-internship is to prepare students for their internship.  The pre-internship covers the following areas:  an overview of the internship experience, work expectations, resume writing, interviewing for your internship, developing portfolios, using the online diary, understanding the learning contract and evaluations, and using online services including “Quest”,  “Internship.com’, and “Career Search”. The internship experience in Sport Management follows the NAASM (North American Society for Sport Management) and COSMA (Commission on Sport Management Accreditation) guidelines and  requires 400 clock hours to complete.  The Internship in Exercise Science requires 200 clock hours to complete. The internships give students the opportunity to develop skills, explore career directions and turn theory into practice in the professional working environment.
