Stephen E. Rees
Stephen E. Rees is Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance, and has been technical director and lighting designer for the department since joining the faculty in 1982. He holds an M.F.A. in Technical Theatre Production earned at the University of Memphis. Prior to coming to Fredonia in his present capacity, he served in a similar position at the University of Georgia.
Mr. Rees training includes emphasis in scenery construction, lighting design and technology, plastics and metal working, and materials selection and utilization. He has developed a program in computer-aided drafting and related skills to meet the growing need for computer training in theatre education.
Outside the department he serves as a theatre consultant to area high schools and community theatres, and has served as consultant on the lighting and rigging systems for the Fredonia Opera House. He has also worked as Technical Director and/or Production Coordinator for East Coast regional opera companies.
