General InformationFacilities provided by the departmental offices are strictly for departmental use. Telephone calls may be made only with permission of the faculty and/or the staff; no long distance calls are permitted except through the Department chair with his/her permission. Use of the copy machine is controlled through the office of the departmental secretary. Under no circumstances shall a student be permitted to involve the department in financial or other contractual commitments. Faculty members are required to post office hours on the door of their offices; students are expected to have the courtesy to observe these hours. In most instances, faculty keep office doors open when it is permissible to interrupt. The department believes strongly in personal advice and advisement for majors. An intense interest is taken in each student and the faculty welcomes the chance to work on a one-to-one basis with each. The department chair assigns academic advisors, but any student may contact any faculty member for advice on matters that are of concern to the student, whether personal, career or academic. Students have their own personal mailboxes outside of the Main Theatre Office on the second floor of the Rockefeller Arts Center. Please check these mailboxes once a day to see if there is any important communication. This is the easiest means of getting in touch with you. Please observe the notices on the callboards upstairs next to the theatre offices and in the Student Commons Area. Important information will be posted here, check it often. Remember to ask questions of your advisor if you are confused about a procedure or policy. Theatre & Dance | 213 Rockefeller Arts Center | 716.673.3596 |
