Admission to the Department
Acceptance into the department is a two-fold process. Prospective students must first be admitted to the university itself through the general College Admissions process. Students who qualify to attend SUNY Fredonia are then eligible to declare a major in the Bachelor of Arts General Theatre Studies program. To gain acceptance into any of the B.F.A. degree programs, prospective students must audition or present a portfolio review during the year prior to entering Fredonia (usually their senior year of high school) on one of the designated audition/review dates. Audition information, requirements and application forms are available here.
All students entering the B.F.A. degree programs are on probation until they complete all degree requirements. Students not accepted to a B.F.A. program on their initial audition may re-audition during their first year in residence at Fredonia.
Transfer students should audition for the B.F.A. the semester before transferring. All B.F.A. programs require four years for completion.
