Todd Proffitt teaches Lighting Design, Sound Design and Computer Technologies for the Department of Theatre and Dance at SUNY-Fredonia. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he serves as the Lighting Designer for the Department of Theatre and Dance.
Before moving to Fredonia, Mr. Proffitt served as Interim Technical Director for Loyola University in New Orleans. In May 1999, he received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Design from Texas Tech University. In addition to Loyola, he has served in a variety of technical and design positions in such companies as Theatre of Youth, The Chautauqua Theatre Company, The Paul Robeson Theatre, Buffalo State College, The Producers Circle, Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts, Anglefire Mountain Theatre Group in Anglefire, Central Missouri Repertory and others.
Mr Proffitt has been active in the United States Institute for Theatre Technology for over 15 years. He has worked in the Lighting Commission as the Student Volunteer Coordinator in the Light Lab, Light Lab Chair and Vice Commissioner for Programing 2011.
In 1994, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Central Missouri State University and in 1999 was the recipient of The United States Institute of Theatre Technology's Barbazon Award for Lighting Design.
