Week One - May 30 - June 5

  • Last weeks’ participants walked a total of 373.45 miles
  • Our top walker for the week, and winner of a Fredonia State T-shirt, was Katelyn Miller (Student Assistant/President’s Office) with 51 miles
  • The winner of our “random” drawing and a $10 SUNY Fredonia Gift Card (all participants were automatically entered) is Denise Szalkowski. 
  • Top participating departments for the week were:  Admissions and the President’s Office

Week Two - June 6 - June 12

  • Last weeks’ participants walked a total of 496.31 miles!
  • Our top walker for the week, and winner of a Fredonia State/Adidas T-shirt was Michael Raimondi (FSA/Centre Pointe) with 49.75 miles!
  • The winner of our “random” drawing and a SUNY Fredonia Deluxe Journal and Pen Set was Patricia Messina.
  • Top participating departments for the week were: Admissions (1st) and the President’s Office (2nd).

 Week Three - June 13 - June 19

  • Last week’s participants walked a total of 712.6. miles!
  • Our top walker for the week, and winner of a Fredonia State T-shirt and Cap, was Terry Kuhn (Health Center) with 48 miles!
  • The winner of our “random” drawing and a FSU Blue Devil T-Shirt was Marcia Sherwood (Admissions).
  • The departments with the most participants this week were University Advancement, Admissions, and the President’s Office. The department with the most miles walked was the Health Center with three employees walking 115 miles!
  • Congratulations to all the other departments that participated this week: Accounting, Athletics, Biology, Budget, Campus and Community Children’s Center, Career Development, Communication, Facilities Services//Plumbing, FSA/Centre Pointe, Human Resources, Native American Consortium, Psychology, Purchasing, Reed Library, Registrar’s and Upward Bound.

 Week Four - June 20 - June 26

  • Last weeks’ participants walked a total of 669.56 miles!
  • Our top walker for the week, and winner of a $15 gift certificate to Aldrich’s Vineyard Falls Miniature Golf was Michael Raimondi (FSA/Centre Pointe) with 53.75 miles!
  • The winner of our “random” drawing and a $10.00 Aldrich’s Vineyard Falls Miniature Golf was Audrey Miga (University Advancement).
  • Top participating departments for the week were: University Advancement, Admissions, and the President’s Office.

 Week Five - June 27 - July 3

  • Last weeks’ participants walked a total of 604.70 miles!
  • Our top walker for the week, and winner of a $15 WalMart gift card, was Cheryl Bak (Admissions) with 55 miles!
  • The winner of our “random” drawing and a $10.00 WalMart gift card was Dawn Hunt (Biology).
  • Top participating departments for the week were: Admissions, the President’s Office, and Public Relations.

 Week Six - July 4 - July 10

  •  Last weeks’ participants walked a total of 522.65 miles!
  • Our top walker for the week, and winner of a $15.00 Olympia Sports gift card was Michael Raimondi (FSA/Centre Pointe) with 47.25 miles!
  • The winner of our “random” drawing and a $10.00 Olympia Sports gift card was Sandra Noble (Accounting).
  • The departments with the most participants were Admissions and Public Relations. The department with the most miles walked this week was the President’s Office, with three employees walking 61.5 miles.

 Week Seven - July 11 - July 17

  • Last weeks’ participants walked a total of 603.48 miles!
  • Our top walker for the week and winner of a $15.00 JCPenney gift card was Denise Szalkowski (President’s Office) with 45 miles
  • The winner of our “random” drawing and a $10.00 gift card from JCPenney is Marcia Sherwood (Admissions).  
  • Our campus total after 7 weeks is now VERY close to 4,000 exercise miles walked!!!
  •  The ADMISSIONS Office won 1st place this week for the most participants (5) AND for most miles (113.5) walked by a department!  Public Relations and Student Accounts tied for 2nd place in the most participants category with four each, but Student Accounts squeaked by with the higher mileage of the two:  59.73 miles vs 59.5 miles – it doesn’t get much closer than that!  The President’s Office came in 3rd place for participants (3) but 2nd place for most miles walked by a department, logging 62.5 miles

 Week Eight - July 18 - July 24

  •  Last weeks’ participants walked a total of 517.61 miles!
  • Our top walker for the week and winner of a $15.00 JCPenney gift card was Cheryl Bak(Admissions) with 52.8 miles
  • Denise Szalkowski (President’s Office ) had another impressive 2nd place title this week with 45 miles. 
  • The winner of our “random” drawing and a $10.00 SUNY Fredonia gift card is Karen Begier (Student Accounts).  Our campus total after 8 weeks exceeds 4,500 exercise miles walked!!!
  • Two departments tied for most participants (four) for the week – Student Accounts (60.07 miles) and Public Relations (40 miles).  Admissions tied with the President’s Office with three participants each, however Admissions took 1st place for most miles walked by a department, logging 105.60 miles
  • The Mailroom is our newest department to join in on the competition - congratulations!

 FINAL WEEK - Nine - July 25 - July 31

  • During the period of July 25th – July 31st, Walk for Wellness participants logged 601.12 miles  Congratulations to our “top walker” of the week and winner of a $15.00 TJMaxx/Marshalls gift card – Cheryl Bak (Admissions) with 45 miles!  Denise Szalkowski (President’s Office) placed 2nd this week with 44 miles and Marcia Sherwood (Admissions) won 3rd place honors by walking 42.8 miles.  The winner of our “random” drawing and a $10.00 gift card from TJMaxx/Marshalls is Terry Kuhn (Health Center).  
  • Public Relations won 1st place this week for the most participants (4), and Admissions won 1st place honors for the most miles walked by a department (104.55 miles by 3 employees).  Thank you and congratulations to ALL participants of the program for their dedication and team spirit.  Although the program has ended, please continue your walking routine!  Departments represented during the Walk for Wellness campaign were:  Accounting, Admissions, Affirmative Action, Athletics, Biology, Budget, Campus & Community Children’s Center, Career Development, Communication, Facilities Services/Plumbing, Foundation, FSA/Centre Pointe, Health Center, Human Resources, Mailroom, Native American Consortium, President’s Office, Psychology, Public Relations, Publication Services, Purchasing, Reed Library, Registrar’s, Student Accounts, Student Association, Upward Bound and Visual Arts.

In addition to the great health benefits to those who participated in Bike to Work Week (May) and the Walk for Wellness Campaign (June & July), these two programs were recognized for a $1,000 Chautauqua County Worksite Wellness Mini Grant!  The grant money will be used to purchase additional bike racks for the campus.  Many thanks to Administration for the donation of prizes and to YOU for your participation!
