The campus was saddened to report that one of our students, Kofi B. Genfi, of Bronx, N.Y., died on June 21, in a swimming accident at the age of 22 (9/18/89 - 6/21/12). Sympathies are extended to the family and friends of Mr. Genfi, and to faculty, staff and students who are filled with grief and shock.
Kofi was a senior Math – Middle Childhood Certification major. He was a student in the Educational Development Program (EDP) and the Collegiate-Science and Technology Program (C-STEP), a Resident Assistant in Igoe Hall from 2009-2010, and a member of the math club. His family was originally from Ghana, Africa.
Contributions to the Kofi Genfi Memorial Fund are gratefully accepted to help his family with burial and funeral costs and may be made via cash, check, or calling the Foundation Office with your credit card number. A traditional Ghanaian funeral was held Saturday, August 4, at the First Ghana Seventh Day Adventist Church in the Bronx.

As an expression of sorrow, SUNY Fredonia flew its flags at half-staff on Monday, August 27, 2012.
A memorial service will be held on campus on Thursday, September 6, 4 pm, Horizon Room, Williams Center.
