SUNY Fredonia and Civic Engagement
The FACE commitment to civic engagement centers on the advancement and integration of the awareness and action to be informed, engaged citizens. We seek to identify and develop the leadership, programs, and activities that enhance and utilize the civic knowledge and skills of our students, faculty, and a wide range of campus community partners. Through FACE, we are developing and coordinating a variety of courses across the disciplines with an emphasis on civic engagement and public service. We will be working with service learning and internship opportunities across the private and public sector, governmental and nongovernmental organizations. There is collaboration on scholarship and research that involves our faculty, staff, and students with the problems, concerns, and solutions of our surrounding area and public space. We are organizing and sponsoring projects, events, and discussion that promote public understanding, dialogue, and debate on issues and concerns that affect the civic space, mobilize and benefit from civic knowledge and participation.
Intersecting with the FACE objectives of sustainability and service learning, our ongoing commitment to civic engagement is further emphasized in the resources, development, and opportunities listed and linked here. There are local, regional, and national connections and partnerships to facilitate and strengthen civic engagement. We welcome your contribution and collaboration in the learning, research, activities, projects, and diverse efforts that categorize civic engagement through SUNY FACE.
