The Youth Vote

As part of the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections, the youth vote turned out in relatively high numbers across the nation and at SUNY Fredonia. And from the 2002 to the 2006 midterm elections, there was a 2 million vote increase nationwide in 18-29 year old turnout, from 22 to 25 percent. However, in New York State only 19% of 18-29 year old voters turned out in 2006 compared with 49% of voters 30 years or older. Visit the following sites to learn more about these trends, the importance of the youth vote, and what you can do about it.
