After reading the essay carefully, give feedback to the author, based on these suggestions: 1. What kinds of organization has the author used? What transitions indicate this? Suggest ways to strengthen transitions between paragraphs if the connections aren't clear. 2. Suggest how the awkward or insufficient transitions could be made smoother within paragraphs. 3. Bracket any sentences you wish the writer had written differently, either because the sentence is confusing or because it is awkwardly worded or arranged. Suggest ways to rewrite these sentences. 4. List any words you think are used too often in the essay. Use the thesaurus to find more appropriate substitutes. 5. Based on what you see in this second draft, what problems with grammar and mechanics should the writer be especially careful to avoid in the final draft? 6. The author will suggest a sixth topic. |
