Evidence of Engagement

 Introduction

This semester in Literacy and Technology, I have been actively engaged in reading course material, in class participation, and in class activities and projects.  I offer the following evidence in subsections to demonstrate my participation:

  • Web Board Posts.  In this subsection, I have included all my web board posts, which show that as I read course material, I actively thought about how the material would affect my classroom as a teacher.  I am also including my responses to others on their posts, which demonstrate my commitment to my classmates and to their learning process as well.
  • Record of Attendance.  As my attendance chart indicates, I was present for all but 2 classes, for which I offered legitimate explanations of my absence and turned in assignments prior to class time.  I was also a frequent contributor to class discussions.
  • Teaching Demo reflections.  After each teaching demo, I took the time to informally write down ideas I got from the demos, focusing on adaptations I could make of the lesson for different grade levels.
  • Daily activities and project peer critique.  In this section, I have included samples of work from teaching demonstrations, by both the course instructor and classmates.  These documents show that I was thoughtfully participating in the lessons so that I could offer constructive feedback for that day’s teacher and so that I could adapt the lessons for my own use.  I also collaborated with Jill on her project, offering her feed back that enabled her to revise her week-long unit plans into a more realistic two-week unit.

This evidence clearly shows that I have vigorously participated in the course and was actively engaged in course materials.
