English 455/56  Tutoring Writing  Students were selected by faculty recommendation for this course, which focused on the theory of tutoring native and ESL students in a writing center environment as well as practical applications in tutoring situations.

 

Fall 2006

English 356  Teaching of Writing  This course entailed the study of and practice in strategies for teaching the process of writing including methods of assessment.  Class members assembled a portfolio to demonstrate their development as teachers of composition and language at the secondary level.

Fall 2007

English 250  Literacy and Techology  Pre-service teachers in this course experimented with technology in order to better teach their students how to enter into whatever discourse communities they wish to.  We focused on meeting National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for teachers as advocated by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), which defines the fundamental concepts, knowledge, skills, and attitudes for applying technology in educational settings.
