About Me

Professional:

I took my first IT related job in February 1997, as a computer technician at Performance PC (PPC) in Fredonia, NY. In 1998 I received my A+ Service Technician certification from CompTIA and I also took on the role of head technician at PPC. From 1998-1999 I helped the store to grow its business with total sales exceeding $1,000,000. In 1999 I was instrumental in the opening of the Performance PC Training Center, where I also taught classes from 1999-2000. In July 2001 I received my Microsoft Certified Professional certification.

In October 2001 I took a job in the ITS department at SUNY Fredonia. In June 2002 I took over responsibility for the largest computer lab on campus. In February 2003 my lab responsibilities switched to maintaining the PC teaching labs on campus. I also took on the responsibility for the new training lab. Beginning in the Fall 2003 semester I began researching a way to track/limit printing in the student labs to reduce paper waste. I performed a limited pilot test during the Spring 2004 semester and based on my recommendations a print quota was established for the Fall 2004 semester. This has shown a significant drop in the amount of wasted paper being thrown into the recycling bins in the labs.

Recently I have been involved in streamlining new computer preps for the HelpDesk, migrating the campus computer labs to Windows Vista and now Windows 7, maintaing the various software license servers for our campus software, providing equipment quotes for computers, printers, accessories, and software, and implementing wireless printing in select labs.

In May 2005 I received both my Microsoft Certified Desktop Technician on Windows XP and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator on Windows 2000 certifications. In June 2006 I added the Messaging specialization to my MCSA certification and also attained the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer on Windows 2000 certification.

I am currently the member of several project teams and committees: ITAB Lab Subcommittee (since 2003), College Review Panel (since 2007), Connections Mentoring Program (since 2008), UUP Executive board (since 2008), Professional Development Committee (since 2008), ITS Leadership Team (since 2008), and ITS Disaster Recovery Team (since 2009).
I was appointed to the Academic Affairs Administrative Review Committee and was elected Vice-Chair of the Fredonia University Senate in 2010.
In December 2010 I was promoted to Windows Lab Systems Administrator and appointed to co-chair the ITAB Lab Subcommittee and to serve as a member of the Information Technology Advisory Board. I am also serving on the Google Apps Transition Team.
In 2011 I was named an Associate of the Professional Development Center.
