Travis Acker | B.S. Geology | Minor:  GIS | 2009
Travis is a GIS/Database analyst with Forecon, Inc., a forestry consulting firm in Falconer, New York. He has also done GIS work for Cattaraugus County, New York. As a student, Travis provided GIS/GPS support to Chautauqua County's Regional Transit System (CARTS) and the Town of Pomfret Bicentennial Tree Project.

Trever Annis | B.A. Earth Science | Minor:  GIS | 20014
Trever is a GIS analyst with the Seneca Nation of Indians in Salamanca, New York. He completed his GIS internship with Forecon, Inc., a forestry consulting firm in Falconer, New York. As a student, Travis was a teaching assistant for GIS I.

Mike Baker | B.S. Geology | Minor:  GIS | 2012
While a student at SUNY Fredonia, Mike worked on a GIS project through the Roger Tory Peterson Institute for the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo's Grow WNY Go Outside initiative.

Eileen Ballerstein | B.S. Geology | 2002
Eileen is a GIS analyst with the environmental consulting firm, Blasland, Bouck & Lee (BBL), in Syracuse. She completed her master's degree in the Geology department at SUNY Buffalo, where she used remote sensing, GIS, and hydrologic modeling to study an in the SW desert of Egypt. While at SUNY Buffalo, she also took courses in the Geography department.

Caleb Bardeen | B.S. Economics | Minor:  GIS | 2014
Caleb completed a GIS internship with Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. He presented his work at the 2014 Student Research and Creativity Exposition. He was also a teaching assistant for GIS I. Caleb was a recipient of the 2014 Spatial Studies Award.

John Barthelmes | B.S. Computer Science & Mathematics | 1996
John is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at the University of Rochester. He also teaches at St. John Fisher College.

Joshua Been | B.A. History | 1997
Joshua Been earned a Master's degree in Library Science from SUNY Buffalo. He is currently the GIS Librarian at the University of Texas at Arlington. Joshua recently coauthored the article, "Faculty and their Institutional Librarians: Developing Labor Capital by Using GIS to Teach Social Science," which was published in the National Social Science Journal, vol. 22, iss. 1 (2004).

Kevin Braun | B.A. English | Minor:  GIS | 2008
Kevin is employed by Pictometry in Rochester, New York.  His GIS internship, while a student at SUNY Fredonia was with Bergmann Associates' Buffalo office and involved building a GIS Septic Inspection database for Chautauqua County, New York.

Ian Bruce | B.S. Biology | Minor:  GIS | 2003
Ian is a Project Scientist with Weston Solutions, Inc, an environmental services company in the Seattle area. in He graduated from Buffalo State College with a master's degree in geography specializing in GIS He was a research assistant to Professor Tao Tang. Ian was the recipient of the 2003 ASPRS Student of the Year Award.

Jacob Calabrese | B.S. Environmental Sciences | Minor:  GIS | 2014
Jacob completed a GIS internship with Chautauqua Institution's Operations Office. He presented his work at the 2014 Student Research and Creativity Exposition. He was also the GIS II teaching assistant for two semesters. He is a GIS Technician with Fisher Associates doing contract work for National Fuel Gas in Erie, Pennsylvania. Jacob was a recipient of the 2013 Spatial Studies Award.

Jessica Carpenter | B.S. Environmental Sciences | Minor:  GIS | 2003
Jessica completed internships with the Dunkirk-Sheridan Economic Development Zone and Southern Tier West Regional Development & Planning Board. She was also employed as a GIS technician with URS Corporation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She worked with FEMA and the Hurricane Katrina disaster relief effort. Jessica currently resides in Pittsburgh.

Jonathan is a GIS Analyst with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in Jackson, Wyoming.

Mary is a GIS Technician with Fisher Associates. Previously, she worked in GIS Operations at National Fuel Gas Company in Erie, Pennsylvania. Mike Darr | B.S. Biology (Alfred University)
Mike is a Transmission Senior GIS Manager at National Fuel Gas Company in Erie, Pennsylvania. Previously, he was a GIS analyst with Forecon, Inc., a forestry consulting firm in Jamestown. He has also done some data conversion work for Chautauqua Institution. Mike has also taught GIS at Jamestown Community College.

Tim is a Junior Geologist with Ecology & Environment in Lancaster, New York.

Maria Dolce | B.S. Computer Science | Minor: GIS | 2001 
Maria is currently with the  Horry County IT/GIS Department in Myrtle Beach. Prior to that, she was a GIS Specialist with URS Corporation in Buffalo. She completed a Master's degree in Geography at Buffalo State College. She worked with Professor Tao Tang. While a student at Fredonia, she did data conversion work for Woodbury Surveying and Geomatics. She also worked on a project for the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department doing geocoding and map design and layout.

Katie is a graduate student at the University of Akron in the Department of Geology and Environmental Science.

Pat is employed as a Scientist II with the Palmerton Group, an environmental consulting firm, in Syracuse. He completed an internship with Woodbury Surveying in Dunkirk, New York, and was the 2013 recipient of the Spatial Studies Award.

Paul Frey | B.S. Computer Science | Minor:  GIS | 2010
Paul coordinates imagery acquisition for Google in Mountain View, California. Previously he was the Lead GIS Analyst for Rochester Gas & Electric. Previously, he was the GIS Coordinator for Cattaraugus County, New York. While a student at SUNY Fredonia, he completed two GIS internship experiences with National Grid in Syracuse. Paul was the 2010 recipient of the Spatial Studies Award.

Merissa Harvey | B.S. Geololgy | Minor:  GIS | 2004
Merissa was the recipient of the 2004 Award for Spatial Studies. She completed an internship with the Chautauqua County WaterNet project. She also worked on the study of the Conewango Creek Dredge in Cherry Creek, which was funded by CHRIC (Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation & Improvement Corporation). Merissa is a graduate student in the master's program in Geography with a concentration in GIS at SUNY Buffalo.

Rachael Heltz Herman | B.S. Environmental Sciences | Minor:  GIS | 2003
Rachael was the recipient of the 2003 Award for Spatial Studies. She completed an internship with the Dunkirk-Sheridan Economic Development Zone. Following graduation, Rachael was an Environmental GIS Manager with the Center for Geospatial Information Technology (CGIT) at Virginia Tech. She completed graduate work at Virginia Tech in Education, Curriculum and Instruction in Learning Sciences and Technologies. Currently, she works for Dewberry on floodmaps, HAZUS runs and hazard mitigation plans. She is a Certified Floodplain Manager.

Jaclyn is employed by the Niagara County Department of Health.

Christopher Holewinski | B.S. Geology | Minor:  GIS | 2012
Chris is the GIS Coordinator for Cattaraugus County, New York. He began his studies in GIS at Erie Community College. While a student at SUNY Fredonia, he completed an internship with the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation.

Bradley Hollamby | B.A. Criminal Justice | Minors:  GIS, Legal Studies | 2012
Bradley was the recipient of the 2012 Award for Spatial Studies. He completed an internship with Chautauqua County's Information Technology Services in Mayville, New York. He currently resides in Colorado Springs.

Ryan Hollamby | B.S. Environmental Sciences | Minors:  GIS, Biology, Geology | 2009
Ryan completed his master's degree at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in the Department of Geography & Environmental Studies. He is currently employed as a GIS Analyst by the Colorado Department of Corrections. As a student at Fredonia, Ryan provided GIS support to the Dunkirk office of the NYS DEC and the Chautauqua County Soil Conservation Service. Ryan was the recipient of the 2009 Award for Spatial Studies

While a student at SUNY Fredonia, Rhiann completed a GIS internship for the Cornell Lake Erie Research & Extension Laboratory mapping vineyards in the Lake Erie Grape Belt. Her internship experience has turned into a full-time position.

Gerri Jayne is a GIS analyst for the Seneca Nation of Indians in Irving, New York.

Howard Klayman | Bachelor of Music | 1985
Howard is a Federal Program Manager with Actiance in Arlington, Virginia. Prior to that he was the Director of Business Development at Ultra Electronics Criticom. For more on Howard and his support of GIS at SUNY Fredonia, to the 2 May 2005 issue of the Fredonia Campus Report.

Alexandra Knowles | B.S. Geology | Minor:  GIS | 2012
Alex is currently a GIS Technician with Fisher Associates in Buffalo. Prior to that, Alex was an intern with Erie County's Office of Geographic Information Services in Buffalo.

Heather is working for an environmental consulting firm in Rochester.

Natalie Lane Hoel | B.S. Geology | 199?
Natalie is the program manager at Akanda Innovation, where she helps develop and implement comprehensive solutions for E-Government. She has a master's degree in geography from Murray State University. She is a former ESRI Technical Support team leader.

Amber Lauzon | B.S. Geology | Minors: GIS, Mathematics | 2005
Amber completed her master's degree in Geography with a concentration in GIS at SUNY Buffalo. She is currently a GIS Analyst with Ecology & Environment, Inc. in Portland, Oregon.

Megan uses GIS in her work for Chautauqua Institution's Operations Office. While a student at SUNY Fredonia, she presented her Directed Study research, "Geoconservation Potential on the Erie Lake Plain" at the 2010 Student Creativity & Research Expo.

Dan Martonis | B.A. History | Minor:  GIS | 2001
Dan is the Driector of Real Property for Cattaraugus County, New York. Prior to that he was the GIS Coordinator for Cattaraugus County. He was also a GIS Analyst with Southern Tier West Regional Planning & Development Board following a SUNY Fredonia internship there. Dan's GIS work for Cattaraugus County was profiled in the Spring 2006 issue of ArcNews.

Shea Mathis | B.S. Environmental Sciences | 2007
Shea was the 2007 winner of the Spatial Studies Award. While a student at SUNY Fredonia, he worked on several GIS-related projects for the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Currently, he is an Environmental Conservation Officer with the DEC in Watertown following several years in New York City.

Matt Mercurio | B.S. Computer Science | 2000
Matt is a Customer Engineer at ATTO Technology, Inc. in Amherst, NY. In the past, Matt did GIS work for Chautauqua Institution and the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department. He was also employed as a transportation analyst at Southern Tier West Regional Planning & Development Board in Salamanca.

While a student at Fredonia, Chuck developed, implemented, and demonstrated a handheld mapping program for Palm OS and Windows CE/Pocket PC handheld devices.

Sharon completed her master's degree in Geophysics at the University of Alaska. She is employed by the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys.

Nancy Rae is doing GIS work in Syracuse.

Richard Santi | B.A. History | 1997
Richard completed his master's degree in Geography (Cartography and GIS) at SUNY at Buffalo. He has worked as a GIS analyst with URS Corporation and GIS Resource Group in Buffalo. He completed his internship with ESRI in Boston. He is currently serving in the US Army and has been stationed in the Middle East, including Iraq.

Grant Saunders | B.S. Interdisciplinary Studies | 2008
Grant was an Engineering/GIS Technician with Nussbaumer & Clarke, Inc. in Buffalo. He completed an internship there while a student at SUNY Fredonia. Grant was the recipient of the 2008 Award for Spatial Studies. Prior to his Fredonia experience, Grant was in the U.S. Navy.

Brian Schrantz | B.A. Economics | Minor:  GIS | 1996
Brian works in enterprise GIS deployment with EMA, a consulting firm specializing in technology and management solutions for utility, municipal, and manufacturing organizations. Prior to EMA, Brian was a regional research analyst in charge of GIS applications at Southern Tier West Regional Planning & Development Board in Salamanca. He is an ESRI authorized instructor. He completed his GIS internship with the Dunkirk Department of Public Works. Brian was the first student to graduate with a minor in GIS from Fredonia!

Ted is currently working at the U.S. Census Bureau in Maryland.

Laurie Serrett Hayes | B.S. Geology | Minor:  GIS | 1998
Laurie is a Senior GIS Analyst with TomTom in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Prior to that she was the Transportation Industry Coordinator for ESRI in Redlands, California. Laurie has also been a GIS Analyst with the New York State Department of Transportation in Albany and Forecon, Inc. in Jamestown, New York. She completed a GIS internship with USGS at Woods Hole, Massachusetts. She also has her master's degree in Geography (Cartography and GIS) from SUNY at Buffalo. As undergraduate at SUNY Fredonia, she completed an internship in GIS with Southern Tier West Regional Development & Planning Board

Dawn has worked as a GIS Analyst for an environmental consulting firm in the New York City metropolitan area. Prior to that she was a research associate at SUNY Fredonia and for the WaterNet project in Chautauqua County. She was the 2005 winner of the Spatial Studies Award.

Deirdre completed a project for Chautauqua County's Department of Health under the direction of Bergmann Associates.

Samantha Shoemaker | B.A. Economics, Political Science | Minor:  GIS | 2006
Sam is employed at the U.S. Census Bureau. Prior to that she was a graduate student in Economics at SUNY Buffalo. She was the 2006 winner of the Spatial Studies Award.

Greg Shot | B.S. Geology | 1996
Greg is living in Charlotte, North Carolina where he is a GIS Analyst with Wells Fargo . He's in the Market and Vacility Planning department at Wachovia, siting new locations for bank branches and ATMs. Previously, he was with the Market and Facility Planning department at Wachovia and with Tele Atlas North America. Prior to that, he worked for the U.S. Census Bureau in Charlotte.

Jeremy Sikora | B.S. Health Service Administration | Minor:  GIS | 1997
Jeremy is currently in Information Technology Service Management at First Niagara. Prior to that he was with HSBC. He has also worked as a GIS analyst with Verdi & Co. in Buffalo. Jeremy completed his master's degree in Geography (Cartography and GIS) at SUNY Buffalo.and completed his GIS practicum experience with ESRI in Boston.

Nathaniel Skinner | B.S. Computer Science | Minor:  GIS | 2009
Nathaniel completed the 4 Block program at the DAVE (Digital Animation & Visual Effects) School at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. He is now an Airborne Cryptologic Linguist with the US Air Force.

Kristina is a drilling fluids engineer with Baker Hughes.

Scott Van Alstine | B.A. Education & English | Minor:  GIS | 2000
Scott is a graduate student at George Washington University. Prior to that, he taught in Armenia at the Armenian Agricultural Academy, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Scott first went to Armenia as a Peace Corps volunteer.

Joel Van Dick | B.S. Communication | Minor:  GIS | 2014
Joel majored in Audio and Radio Production while a student at Fredonia. He interned with the Dunkirk Local Development Corporation and presented his work at the GIS/SIG 23rd Annual Spatial/Digital Mapping Conference on  April 15, 2014.

Matt Vasapolli | B.S. Geology | 2001
Matt works for Mortensen Engineering, a geotechnical engineering firm, in Tampa, Florida. He locates and logs soil borings.

Darren Weinstock | B.S. Business Administration | 1998
Darren graduated from SUNY Buffalo in 2000 with an MBA. He's a Senior Data Analyst with Pitney Bowes Business Insight.

Nicholas Williamson | B.S. Environmental Sciences | Minor:  GIS | 2014
Nick worked with Dr. Sherri Mason (Environmental Sciences and Chemistry) mapping plastic pollution in the Great Lakes for his senior capstone experience.
