An undergraduate major in Biology or related science with requisite evidence of training and motivation necessary to succeed in graduate study. Supporting science background should include physics, calculus, and organic chemistry. Prospective students should forward Graduate Record Exam scores along with their application for consideration.
Candidates must have initial certification to teach biology and general science in the secondary schools of New York State, or equivalent preparation. Please note additional program requirements. For general admission requirements, please see the Application Procedures.

Master of Science in Education: Curriculum and Instruction – Middle and Adolescence Science Education Track
Students Should Be Advised: Revisions for the programs in Curriculum and Instruction Science Education Track have been drafted and will be submitted to the New York State Education Department during Fall 2005. With approvals forthcoming, these programs leading to grades 5-9 or 7-12 professional teaching certification in specific science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Physics) may be available for graduate admission in Fall 2006. Prospective students interested in any of these programs should contact Dr. Holly Lawson, Director of Science Education Partnership and Associate Professor of Chemistry, or Dr. Michael Jabot, Assistant Professor of Education. Updated admission requirements and program descriptions may be available during Spring 2006.
